What If…You Could Gain More Experience In A Skillset in Two Years?
Continuing with my ‘what if…?’ series inspired by Scenario Cards (which are packs of cards that come in 3 different varieties (self, the world and life) that inspire meaningful conversations designed by psychologists, and I highly recommend them!). You can check out the rest of the articles in this series here.
Here’s today’s question:
What if ... you could spend the next two years gaining more experience in one particular skillset? Which area would you explore?
Probably writing. Since that’s what I am and what I do, at heart.
Though, I also think that writing, like art, is kind of subjective. I think it’s Stephen King or someone like that who said something like you can break the rules once you know all the rules. So of course there’s rules to writing that everyone should learn, but after that…it’s like art - just write however the eff you want. TO an extent, that is. Obviously grammatically correct and with little to no typos. And then you can write weird artistic sh*t like Mark Danielewiski’s House Of Leaves that is more art, than writing in my opinion. Not that that’s bad but…see, you can write however you want once you learn the rules of writing and grammar and flow…
